The Neurofeedback Journey continues. After a few more shipments and activation of our qEEG Pro software package, we finally have all the pieces in place. I’ve been practicing using the equipment and am pleased with the progress. Our mentor meetings with Dr. Wes Center will start within the next week or two and we can’t wait to start working with our first clients.
This has been a fast and at times overwhelming process. Neurofeedback has been around for many years and there are about as many ways to do it as there are people working in the field. A quick google search will provide enough information and variations to confuse nearly anyone!
We’ve worked pretty hard and had quality help to navigate the technology options and are confident we’ve made the right decisions with training from Stress Therapy Solutions and a Brainmaster amplifier. Our Discovery 24 is absolutely one of the best neurofeedback amplifiers available and the qEEG Pro software is on the leading edge of neurofeedback science.
It was tempting to start small and go with a 2 or 4 channel system like some of the other providers in our area. However, once we saw the kind of results we can get from using next level equipment and software, starting small really wasn’t a viable option. We were fortunate to be able to purchase what is probably some of the best technology available in Northeastern Oklahoma and we can’t wait to show our clients what’s possible.
We’re in the process of developing a systematic evaluation and treatment planning process that takes a holistic approach to helping people recover from whatever ails them. Neurofeedback isn’t a miracle cure but can be an important component of the recovery process. Luckily, our neurotherapists are also licensed counselors that know how to assess and treat the whole person.
In the meantime, we’re going to keep practicing with the equipment on each other and on a few lucky individuals who have volunteered to help us perfect our practices and procedures. Stay tuned for more updates on our neurofeedback journey.
